Stanley and Consett Poverty Truth Commission will launch at Craghead Village Hall on Wednesday 4th March.
The group are meeting weekly with creatives from The Forge in Stanley, learning new skills, honing others and discovering creative sides they didn’t know they had! So far, they have been trying out animation and writing poetry, and are overflowing with ideas for how to share their stories of poverty, resilience and hope.
We have begun identifying Civic Commissioners to join the group at the next stage of their journey, which will begin in April 2026.
Investing in Children has been working with a group of young people in Stanley to gather their views and opinions of poverty in their community. These will be shared at the launch.
