Join us for a full-day event during Community Energy Fortnight to explore how communities across County Durham can take practical steps towards a more sustainable, locally powered future.

Community Energy in County Durham: Building a Shared, Sustainable Future brings together inspiring speakers and expert organisations, including Community Energy England, North East & Yorkshire Net Zero Hub, Edge Innovation, Rural Design Centre, and Durham Community Action, to introduce what community energy is, why it matters, and how your organisation can get involved.

This event is designed for community groups, voluntary organisations, and local leaders who are interested in:

  • Understanding the benefits of community energy
  • Learning from real-world examples and best practices
  • Exploring funding, partnership, and delivery options
  • Starting the journey to develop projects in their own area

Throughout the day, Sustainable Energy Engineering Limited will be showcasing solar panels and batteries so you can see how they work, and you’ll take part in discussions, hear from leading voices in the sector, including NECA and Durham County Council, and gain practical insights to help you turn ideas into action in your community.

Whether you’re just curious or ready to get started, this is a great opportunity to connect, learn, and be inspired.

The event takes place on Tuesday 7th July with registration from 9.15am (9.45am start) until 3.00pm at Jubilee Fields Community Centre, Jubilee Road, Shildon, DL4 2AL

Spaces are limited, so please book your place today and be part of building a shared, sustainable future for County Durham.
