We are recruiting for a Poverty Truth Commission Project Worker

 

Would you like to support Durham Community Action and its partners to bring about change through the development of Poverty Truth Commissions for County Durham?

We are recruiting a Project Worker to support the Poverty Truth Commission. This new role is part of a small team who will set up and drive the development of the Poverty Truth Commissions, bringing capacity to a project developed in partnership with a range of voluntary and public sector partners.

The Project Worker will work under the direction of the Project Coordinator to help with the overall development and administration of the County Durham Poverty Truth Commissions. They will help identify, recruit and support a group of people who have been directly affected by poverty to become testifiers for the Poverty Truth Commissions, identifying and addressing barriers to engagement, signposting and referring to support agencies as needed. They will help support senior civic, political, and business leaders who are willing to become involved and who share the ethos of the PTC.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of tackling poverty and inequality alongside people struggling against poverty. The successful candidate will have excellent facilitation skills and be able to engage with people from different backgrounds and sectors. They will have significant experience of the voluntary and statutory sectors and be experienced in facilitating groups to bring about change.

Salary: £29,238 full time (pro-rata for part time) fixed term (31 March 2027).

Hours: 21 to 35 hours per week, negotiable.

Work base: DCA’s office base is in Willington, County Durham. We operate a hybrid model of working and staff attend the offices at Willington for part of their working week.
