Merry Christmas from all the team at DCA!

Merry Christmas from all the team at Durham Community Action!

Our office will close for the festive break on Friday 22nd December and will reopen on Wednesday 3rd January.

" With the festive period almost upon us, I’m once again reminded of the amazing array of support to our communities that volunteer-led activity provides.  Colleagues across the sector are working in partnership to support their communities and provide a much-needed safety net for those facing hardship. Voluntary and Community Sector organisations work year-round to reach out to those most in need whether they be in crisis or simply want to feel more connected to their community.

This includes the volunteers who are working hard to keep community venues open and running, and to offer social activities and support.  As we all continue to face the challenge of the increasing cost of living, it has been a privilege to witness the tireless efforts of those providing a warm welcome in their communities. This time of year can be particularly difficult for people who feel isolated or lonely, so an extra special thank you and salute to all the people who volunteer to support our communities to look after neighbours and those who are alone.

It is also wonderful to witness the power of collaborative action across the county through the many formal and spontaneous partnerships that operate so successfully.  Here’s to ongoing multi sector work and recognition of the value the voluntary and community sector contributes to our local economic and community resilience. We will face continued challenge in the year ahead, but I know that we will all endeavour to harness the power of community led action.

Wishing you a safe and a very happy Christmas."

Best Wishes
