National Safeguarding Adults Week takes place from 15th - 21st November and is an opportunity for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. It aims to highlight safeguarding key issues, facilitate conversations and raise awareness of safeguarding best practice. 

Throughout the week Durham Community Action are running the following online events for voluntary and community organisations:

Tuesday 16th November 10.00 – 11.30am

Understanding Safeguarding for Voluntary and Community Organisations

This workshop will cover the importance of having a safeguarding policy, understanding your responsibilities for safeguarding within your organisation and what to include in your safeguarding policy.

Wednesday 17th November 9.30 – 11.00am

WRAP (Workshop to Raise Awareness of PREVENT)  

Working in collaboration with Durham County Council’s Partnership Team, this workshop will give you the opportunity to understand the PREVENT agenda, how to identify signs of radicalisation and help prevent vulnerable people being drawn into extremist and terrorist related activity.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Eligibility Workshop

This workshop will support participants to understand what level of DBS check can be applied for and what information these checks will provide. It will cover the different levels of DBS checks available, what roles are eligible for what levels of check and why and what is regulated activity.
