Calling Community Buildings - have you checked your eligibility and applied for one of the new grants available to businesses impacted by local and national restrictions due to Covid-19?

We know that many community buildings have seen a shortfall in their income this year due to cancelled activities, operating with reduced numbers, being closed for a period of time, or whilst looking for new ways of adapting the services they provide.

Here at DCA we have been inundated with enquiries from people asking if they are eligible for the business grants available to those impacted by the local and national Covid-19 restrictions.  The guidance from government isn’t always clear, and so we are often asked about unrestricted funding that might help cover the loss of income incurred through adaptions and responses to the restrictions.

Community buildings are once again eligible to apply for these new grants via Durham County Council and payments are calculated on the rateable value of your premises, so you will need your business rates account number to complete the application.

The grants available are dependent on how the restrictions have affected you.  These include the restrictions on:

  • Socialising from 18th September to 4th November
  • National lockdown from 5th November to 2nd December

To make it easier for people, there is only one application to complete for all the grants available.

If you are approved for a grant you will receive the payment for the full period, you were affected.

Further information about the grants and the application form can be found here

These grants will provide a welcomed cash boost to help cover some shortfalls and help towards the essential costs of running a community venue whilst the opportunities to generate income are restricted.

If you are looking for some advice and support on sourcing other funding opportunities or would like to chat through any funding query, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

If you have already been in contact with one of our Community Support Team, contact them in the usual ways or email and your enquiry will be directed to a member of the team.
