DURHAM COMMUNITY ACTION WINS NATIONAL LOTTERY FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY HUBS PROJECT

5th Sep 2019

Durham Community Action is celebrating after being awarded £200,286 of National Lottery funding to deliver a three-year Community Hubs project.

The grant, awarded through The National Lottery Community Fund, will allow Durham Community Action to provide practical help to build resilience in communities through the provision of well run and well led community spaces that host a range of activities and services. The overall aim of the project is to support volunteers who carry responsibilities for community buildings and spaces to realise their local ambitions.

Support from Durham Community Action will include organisational health checks, development plans for volunteer management groups and relevant training opportunities.

Durham Community Action is recognised as the leading infrastructure organisation for County Durham, providing advice, support and assistance to front line groups operating in the voluntary and community sector (VCS).

Kate Burrows, Community Support Manager for Durham Community Action said:

“We are delighted to have been awarded funding by The National Lottery Community Fund. This exciting project enables us to offer dedicated support to volunteer and community led organisations running Community Hubs across County Durham and contribute to building resilience within our communities.

Thank you to everyone who plays the National Lottery, we wouldn’t be able to do this without you.”
