DCA JOINS IN WITH BLIND AWARENESS NEW AGE KURLING COMPETITION

18th Jun 2019

On 5th June, two teams from DCA joined in the Blind Life in Durham annual Blind Awareness New Age Kurling Competition - a fun fundraising event held at Wolsingham Community Sports Centre.

The competition was played by sighted competitors in blindfolds against a non-sighted team from Blind Life in Durham with every team playing each other. There was also a delicious buffet provided by Blind Life in Durham and a best blindfold competition!

The winners of the competition were Mix Ups (made up of police, a carer and a Blind Life in Durham volunteer) who received medals and their team name inscribed on the shield. The Blind Life in Durham team The Real McCoys came second and also received medals.  Other teams included CA Group, Wosingham School and a team with connections to the ambulance service. Specsavers contributed to the running of the event.

Margaret Welch from Blind Life in Durham said:

" Thanks to Durham Community Action for providing keen, enthusiastic players and contributing to a friendly enjoyable evening. It was a successful fun night and raised £420 in total for the charity."
