Fiona Christian

Community Partnerships Manager

Fiona joined the management team at DCA in March 2022 to help shape the developmental planning for the Advice in County Durham partnership, which DCA Chairs.

Fiona‘s skills lie in building alliances and partnerships. Throughout her career she has forged connections and collaborations, having seen the benefits of sharing ideas and bringing people together to improve understanding and to develop services. She has managed multiple partnership forums and projects in County Durham and in Tyne and Wear.

Before moving into management roles Fiona spent 20 years delivering welfare rights advice in local communities in Newcastle and Sunderland.  She has a deep interest in advice work, which has been a consistent theme in her career.

She has worked in the voluntary sector for most of her working life, both in front line community organisations and in infrastructure support. Fiona managed Funding Information North East (FINE) for several years where she chaired the Funding Advice Workers Network and worked closely with funders including convening the North East Funder Forum.

Fiona’s partnership experience led her to a role in social housing at Livin, where she managed a partnership project of voluntary sector and housing organisations to improve financial confidence in County Durham and Tyne and Wear. The project improved cross sector connections and understanding, leading to better access to financial wellbeing services for local people.

Most recently Fiona managed Livin’s Financial Wellbeing teams where she was responsible for the management and development of Livin’s financial wellbeing support, arrears recovery and welfare reform functions.
