Kate Burrows

Community Support Manager

Kate joined Durham Community Action in November 2016 as Community Support Manager working with the team of dedicated Community Support Officers to provide information, advice and guidance under our wide reaching community development and support remit.

Her experience has led her to consult, advise, influence, and negotiate on a one to one basis, within an organisation and with external agencies at all levels. She takes a calm and ordered approach to all that she does and seeks to manage people and resources with enthusiasm.

Having spent 15 years as a dedicated teacher and school leader, relocation to the North East afforded Kate the opportunity to work in the VCS sector. She has spent the past 9 years working on a number of projects at a local and regional level for Citizens Advice including leading on the face to face Money Advice Service for Citizens Advice County Durham. She is passionate about ensuring individuals and organisations have access to the advice and information they need to make choices that are right for them.

Most recently, prior to joining Durham Community Action, Kate worked to further develop the county wide advice partnership, Advice in County Durham.  This partnership was set up to create simpler pathways for people to seek advice, build capacity within the sector and encourage collaborative approaches to the essential work of advising and supporting those in need within our community.  She was tasked with growing the network, delivering a training and networking programme and securing a sustainable partnership across the county in order to ensure that the voices of those that need to be heard were promoted through the Advice in County Durham Network.

In her spare time, Kate can be found with her nose in a book, keeping up with programmes and plays on the radio iplayer and most of all enjoying the company of family and friends.
