Susan Tron

Community Development Officer

Susan joined Durham Community Action Team in April 2015 after a long history and love affair with the Voluntary and Community Sector. She is one of our Community Support Officers providing support to groups and communities throughout County Durham.

Prior to this she was the Project Manager at Stepney Bank Stables for 20 years, which was a role she greeted with energy, enthusiasm and total commitment. During this period the organisation was given a Queen’s Award for community engagement and Susan received her MBE.

Following this Susan worked at the North East Autism Society as their Trusts Fundraiser. Not only did this give her a deep appreciation of autism and other related conditions but also the affect this can have on individuals and families. She was previously the Vice Chair for Dyslexia North East. Dyslexia is a poorly understood condition which can impact heavily on a person’s life chances. They work closely with the local neighbourhood to address issues on an individual level but also via self- help groups and networking opportunities. Susan was responsible for the majority of fundraising for this group.

Susan believes passionately in the Voluntary and Community Sector and the important role it has to play in improving and protecting health. She lives locally and tries to ride her horse, Paige, every day as well as regularly attending Boot Camp at her local gym.
