Anne-Marie Parkin

Community Development Officer

Anne-Marie joined Durham Community Action in December 2013 as a Community Engagement Administrator, and is now working as one of our Community Development Officers.

After completing her degree in Business and Legal Studies at Sunderland University, working part time in a local shop and looking after her three children, she took up a volunteer position of Assistant Secretary for Wolsingham Agricultural Show. During her time at Wolsingham Show she took responsibility for organisation of the Food Hall and stayed for 5 years.

Anne-Marie then moved to DISC where she worked as an Administrator in the Independent Living Unit for one and a half years before moving onto a Support Worker post on the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller project for three years.  This involved helping to engage the community with other services and delivering support around housing with a link into improving the health of the community. Anne-Marie helped to organise and deliver sessions around healthy eating and health and wellbeing for the community as well as promotion and awareness of the issues faced by them so that other agencies and services had a better understanding of how to engage with them as well as an understanding of their culture.

Anne-Marie lives locally with her partner, three children, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Outside of work she likes running, walking and spending time with her family and friends.
