Hannah Murray-Leslie

Community Worker (Growing Durham)

Hannah is one of the Growing Durham Community Workers. She joined the team in April 2015 and is working to help community groups with an interest in growing some of their own food to make it happen.

Hannah has a degree in Politics and Social Policy from Newcastle University and is completing an RHS Level 3 Diploma in the principles and practice of horticulture.  Her employment background is in the creative and cultural sector.  Alongside her Growing Durham role, she works part time for Sage Gateshead as the Course Leader for Creative Apprenticeships North East and also as project manager for www.culturestreet.org.uk.  She has had a varied freelance career, developing and managing projects around cultural learning and community development.  Prior to that Hannah worked at Wear Valley District Council as an Arts Development Officer, supporting local groups and individuals to engage in participatory arts projects and access cultural opportunities.  Having grown up in the Peak District, Hannah fell for the open spaces and beautiful countryside of County Durham and has lived here since 2003.

Hannah has an allotment with her family and spends most weekends during the growing season there.  She loves being outdoors, cooking, and camping holidays.
