SUCCESSFUL OPEN DAY FOR ST JOHN'S CHURCH HALL IN MOORSIDE

12th Dec 2017

An open day held at St John's Church Hall in Moorside on 18th November was a great success with over 150 people from the community attending.

There were exhibits from Durham Rug Makers, Consett Heritage Initiative, Wellbeing for Life, card making, face painting, karate, Jack Drum Arts with Samba Drumming and the drama group.

The Samba Drumming gave a display of how they perform with drumming, singing and dancing and at the end some of the community got involved and said it was great fun.

Although not intended to be a fund-raising event, nearly £200 was raised with the proceeds from the raffle, tombola and refreshments.

The committee are looking to change the name of the hall to make it more appealing. Those attending the open day could choose from a range of options: St John’s Community Hall, St John’s Community Centre, St John’s Centre, St John’s Hall and of course they could vote for St John’s Church Hall – the name that it has already.

The name that was chosen to be the working name was St John’s Community Hall.
